Oven 350 · 175 °C1 hour

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine or butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • dash salt
  • 1 quart fruit (peaches, cherries, or berries), sweetened
  • 1½ cups sugar

Method

  1. Melt margarine in a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk.
  3. Pour over the melted butter in the pan and blend it in.
  4. Cover with the fruit.
  5. Do not stir, as the batter rises to the top as it bakes and absorbs the flavor of the fruit.
  6. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
