The card for Fried Chicken Without Lard or Butter

Fried Chicken Without Lard or Butter

Mrs. P. A. Anderson, R. 4, Carmi, Ill.’s recipe · The Tinfully Family

Oven slow oven · 300–325 °F · 150–165 °Cone and a half hours

Ingredients

  • chicken, cut up as for frying
  • sweet milk
  • flour

Method

  1. Prepare chicken to fry in the usual way.
  2. Fill the fryer full of sweet milk.
  3. Roll chicken in flour, place in fryer, and cook in a slow oven for one and a half hours.
  4. Turn chicken the same as when using lard.
  5. When nicely browned, take out chicken and make gravy.

This is an excellent way to cook chicken when too large to fry.
